Biography
Ecoboat (Ecoboot, in Dutch) was launched in the farewell speech by Frits Schoute, when he retired as Telecom Professor from the TU Delft on September 1st, 2000. Telecom was so far ahead of the needs of the people, whereas the need for more space, more sustainable energy and water for the ever growing population of our metropolises became more and more distressing. This is how the site www.ecoboot.nl came into existence. His farewell speech (in Dutch) can be found below. On this site you can find several contributions of students and other concerned persons about the idea of starting a floating life.
